Bold italic versus bold alone
Bold letters add visual weight. Italic letters add a slant. Bold italic combines the two, so it can stand out more strongly than either on its own. The Bold and Sans Serif Bold cards in this collection are upright alternatives; check the style name before copying.
Choose serif or sans serif bold italic
Bold Italic has a more traditional, serif appearance: 𝑴𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒊𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕. Sans Serif Bold Italic has simpler shapes: 𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩. Compare both against the ordinary text surrounding your phrase and pick the version that is easiest to read.
Use strong emphasis sparingly
A short heading or a few key words usually benefits more than a full paragraph. Use the specific-words option to keep the rest of your message plain. Digits and punctuation remain unchanged in the bold italic styles, even though the separate upright bold style can transform digits.
